Caro Halford's practice places focus on a sense of flux and ambiguity as to whether the object is a textile, a print, or a sculpture which leaves us with feelings of doubtfulness and uncertainty of the work.

She uses the medium of collage to instigate discussions around social and political concerns of women and their sexuality. However, there is a vein of masculine within this thread too. Strongly vibrant in colour the images also use a blend of monochrome depictions of internal spaces with the human form depicted abstractly through collage. The result is a balanced image with a striking yet obscure message that draws the viewer to want to learn more.

The collages have formal qualities - hard, soft or shiny with embedded ideas; a series of past associations that can enrich a concept. Her collages become bolder and more experimental with colour throughout the space, allowing something unconsciously emotional to take place. Read less
